Not all outdoor saunas are created equal. When you compare what's actually included — the heater, the roof, the accessories, the safety certifications, the warranty — the differences add up fast. We built our saunas so you don't have to pay extra for the things that should come standard.

50% More Heater Power, Right Out of the Box
Most outdoor saunas ship with a 4.5kW to 6kW heater — fine for a small space, but you'll wait a while to get to temperature. Our PrairieFire™ 9kW electric heater gets your sauna hot faster and holds heat more consistently, so you spend less time waiting and more time actually enjoying your sauna.
Whether you prefer dry heat or the traditional Finnish ritual of pouring water over stones for steam, the PrairieFire™ handles both beautifully.

Preheat from Your Phone with Wi-Fi Smart Control
Heading out to the backyard after dinner? Start preheating your sauna from the couch. The PrairieFire™ heater comes with built-in Wi-Fi smart control — so your sauna is ready when you are, no trips outside to turn it on manually.
With most competitors, Wi-Fi control is either an extra purchase or not available at all. With Backyard Discovery, it's included.

Full Sauna Certification — Not Just the Heater
Here's a detail that's easy to miss: many competing saunas only carry heater-only certification. That means a lab tested just the heater unit — not the sauna itself, not the wiring, not the overall product.
Every Backyard Discovery sauna carries full sauna ETL certification, which means the entire product — the wiring, the construction, and most importantly the heater while in use with that particular sauna structure — has been independently tested and verified to meet North American safety standards. When your family is spending time around a high-heat electrical product, that matters.
Full certification can also make permitting smoother and give your homeowner's insurance one fewer thing to flag.

A Real Roof — Included, Not Extra
This one surprises a lot of people: with most competing saunas, the roof is sold separately. And when they do offer one, it's often a canvas cover or basic shingles you install yourself.
Every Backyard Discovery sauna comes with a 29-gauge powder-coated galvanized steel roof right in the box. It's built to shed rain and snow, resist rust, and protect your investment through every season — no add-ons, no aftermarket shopping, no extra cost.

A Thicker Door That Seals in the Heat
The door is one of the biggest sources of heat loss in any sauna — and the difference between a well-sealed door and a thin one is noticeable every session. Backyard Discovery saunas use an 8mm tempered glass door that locks in heat and eliminates cold spots.
Most competitors use 5–8mm glass. It may sound like a small difference, but when you're sitting in 170°F heat, you feel every degree that escapes.

Everything You Need, Already in the Box
With many saunas, the sticker price is just the starting point. Stones? Extra. Bucket and ladle? Extra. Thermometer? Extra. Lighting? You guessed it.
Backyard Discovery saunas come with a complete accessory kit included — heater stones, bucket and ladle for the traditional steam ritual, a thermometer, and integrated dimmable LED lighting. It's everything you need for the full sauna experience, at the price you see.

5 Year Comprehensive Warranty
Covers craftsmanship and components including:
- Cabin / Materials
- Electrical Components
- Electric 9kW Heater
- Tempered Glass
5-Year Warranty. No Exclusions. No Fine Print.
Most competing saunas come with a 1–3 year warranty — and if you read the fine print, you'll often find exclusions for the heater, electrical components, or "cosmetic" issues that conveniently cover a lot of problems.
Backyard Discovery saunas include an industry-leading 5-year comprehensive warranty with no exclusions. Every component is covered, full stop. And our U.S.-based customer support team is available 7 days a week — by phone, not just email.
We've been building outdoor products for families for over 50 years. Standing behind what we build is kind of our thing.

Planning Your Electrical Setup?
Every Backyard Discovery sauna needs a dedicated electrical circuit. The good news: it's a straightforward, one-time project — and we've put together a plain-English guide with everything you (and your electrician) need to know.
Quick specs: 240V / 50A dedicated circuit, Hardwired (no plug), Licensed electrician required, Interior heater wiring included, Typical installation: $500–$4,000 depending on distance & panel capacity

Free Shipping on Our Own Logistics Network
Most sauna companies hand your order off to a chain of third-party carriers and hope for the best. We took a different approach: Backyard Discovery built its own logistics network so we control the experience from warehouse to driveway.
That means fewer handoffs, less damage, and real Backyard Discovery employees monitoring your order every step of the way. Your sauna arrives on a box truck with a two-person delivery crew — not a semi dropping a pallet at the curb.
- Free Driveway Delivery
- 7–14 Day Delivery
- 99%+ Damage-Free
Every box is scanned three times during transit and you get real-time tracking plus a delivery photo when it arrives. If anything ever does show up damaged, you deal directly with our team — not a carrier's claims department.
