How does using my HSA/FSA save me money?
HSA/FSA accounts were created so individuals could use pre-tax money to pay for expenses used to treat, mitigate, or prevent a diagnosed medical condition.
Because HSA/FSAs use pre-tax money, you’re getting more purchasing power for your dollars. Rather than pay taxes on income and then spend it on health items, qualified customers can use pre-tax funds to invest in root cause interventions.

Who is Truemed?
At Truemed, we believe that investing in your health is far more valuable than waiting to spend on sickness. By unlocking pre-tax HSA/FSA spend on research backed interventions such as fitness, supplements, and health technology, we’re shifting healthcare spend toward true medicine.

What are FSA and HSA accounts?
Health savings accounts (HSA) and flexible spending accounts (FSA) are programs that allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars for eligible healthcare expenses. If you’re unsure whether or not you have an HSA or FSA account, please check with your employer or insurance company.
Can I use my HSA/ FSA at Backyard Discovery?
While it is possible to do so with Truemed, we do not recommend attempting to checkout with your HSA/FSA cards for compliance purposes. We strongly encourage simply transacting with your normal credit or debit card, and submitting for reimbursement as outlined above for the greatest likelihood of success.
Can I use my regular credit card at checkout?
Yes. If you prefer to use your regular credit card, Truemed will send you instructions on how to submit for reimbursement from your HSA/FSA administrator.
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity, and how is this compliant?
The items in your Truemed Letter of Medical Necessity (“LMN”) are now qualified medical expenses in the same way a visit to the doctor’s office or pharmaceutical product is. Your Truemed LMN satisfies all IRS requirements to make your wellness spend fully reimbursable.
Are there fees associated with using Truemed's services on BackyardDiscovery.com?
There is no cost to you. Backyard Discovery has partnered with Truemed to offer this service as a convenience for our qualifying customers.
When should I use my FSA/HSA dollars?
You can use your HSA/FSA dollars all year long. While HSA balances roll-over, FSA dollars expire at the end of the year and unused money may not rollover into the next year. Make sure to spend the rest of your FSA dollars before December 31st.
How long does it take for me to receive my Letter of Medical Necessity?
Generally it takes 24-48 hours. In some cases, Truemed’s provider team will require additional time to issue a letter of medical necessity based on the needs associated with an individual qualification survey. If you aren’t seeing your letter in your inbox, check spam, then reach out to us at support@truemed.com for help.
I don’t have an HSA/FSA. Can I still benefit from Truemed?
Unfortunately, Truemed’s services are for individuals who have HSA or FSA accounts (or plan to fund one during open enrollment). We encourage you to ask your employer about information on your HSA or FSA.
I don’t live in the US. Can I still get reimbursed with Truemed?
Unfortunately, Truemed is currently only available in the United States.
Does the email used at checkout have to match the email associated with my HSA/FSA account?
No, but your name should match the order, your Truemed qualification survey, and your HSA/FSA account.
Should you answer for every condition that applies to you or only the condition that the product you wish to purchase is meant to help with?
Truemed's survey prompts you to respond with all conditions you have been diagnosed with. In the case where you have not been diagnosed with anything but are trying to prevent a condition, Truemed asks specifically what you are trying to prevent by making the purchase.
What is the Truemed Privacy Policy?
